Advanced Hatha Yoga Teacher Training

The School of Gentle Yoga Advanced Hatha training is designed to prepare yoga teachers to instruct yoga that is accessible to all ability levels and student populations. From active Hatha to subtle Restorative, learn to teach a range of levels from our signature “Five F Principles” philosophy and Pancha Maya Kosha system.

Program Prerequisite: 200 Hour Certification
*Individual sessions may be taken for self-study and/or CEU’s.

2020 Program Curriculum

Required Core Curriculum – 110 Hours

Teaching to Wholeness – 50 hours
with Dannette Mason, E-RYT 500 & Guest Teachers
Three Part Training: 15 hours each session, plus 5 non-contact hours
Part A: April 3rd – April 5th
Part B: April 10th – April 12th
Part C: May 22nd – May 24th

Advanced principles and philosophy of Gentle Hatha Yoga as taught by the School of Gentle Yoga.
Teaching to Wholeness is the founding principle of the School of Gentle Yoga. In this session you will learn to teach to a student’s wholeness rather than limitations. The Five F Principles are the cornerstone of this session: Foundation, Function over Form, Flow, Felt Sense, and Freedom of Expression. Sequencing and practicum are also emphasized.

Anna Maya Kosha: Body Module – 15 hours

Proprioception and Practices of the Physical Body.
This session explores ranges of movement, use of props, modifications and adaptations, as well as felt-sense embodiment of postures to empower students proprioception and understanding of movement and posture.

Prana Maya Kosha: Breath Module – 15 hours

September 4th – September 7th
Nervous System and Practices of the Subtle Body
This session explores Pranayama breathing techniques to affect the Nervous System, and in particular the Vagus Nerve, which is responsible for the body’s unconscious functioning such as breathing, circulation and digestion. Its functioning is also directly linked to social competence and beneficial emotional regulation.

Mano Maya Kosha: Mind & Senses Module – 15 hours
with Dannette Mason, E-RYT 500 & Guest Teachers
October 9 – October 12
Interoception and Practices of the Mental/Emotional Body
This session emphasizes Pratyahara practices designed to move student’s awareness and senses within, exploring the rich inner landscape of sensation – body, breath, mind, thoughts and feelings. Practices include imagery, visualization, chanting and mantra.

Vijnana Maya Kosha: Meditation Module – 15 hours
with Dannette Mason, E-RYT 500 & Guest Teachers
November 6th – November 8th
Self Reflection and Practices of the Wisdom Body
This session explores the more contemplative practices of the Hatha Yoga tradition. Designed to move beyond the senses into the innate stillness within, practices include an integration of the previous modules, as well as contemplation, awareness and observer practices.

Immerse yourself into the study of India’s sacred love song! 
The Bhagavad Gita is the most popular and well known of all the sacred scriptures from ancient India. Being revered as a true source of spiritual knowledge, it reveals the purpose and goal of human existence. We will explore the inspired teachings of the Gita and bring the practice of Karma, Jnana, and Bhakti to life. No previous knowledge is necessary.

In this six week series we will experience and explore the properties of each individual center, as well as the two primary currents of the entire system – the Current of Liberation and the Current of Manifestation.

Healing, Relaxation & Yoga Nidra – 15 hours

Rest in the essence of your divine nature during this 3-day immersion. Explore the depth of peace within you, experience powerful healing, transform stuck attitudes and reveal new found awareness for growth.
