“Yoga teaches us what is possible as a human being. It deconstructs the beliefs and opinions of what we think we are and sheds light on our divine nature.”

Which classes are good for beginners?

In all of our classes at Yoga Oceanside, students are encouraged to practice at a pace led by their own breath to make each class safe and rewarding. Our teachers are well trained and will offer modifications for your body.

Classes titled Yoga Delight are a great place to start if you are new to Yoga or getting back into yoga after a pause in your practice.

Occasionally, we offer Introduction to Yoga workshops and special class series designed for new students. Visit our Events & Workshops page for more information.

What are the benefits of yoga?

  • Calms the mind by restoring mental agility
  • Helps detoxify the body
  • Helps reduce stress and mental fatigue
  • Increases metabolism and overall energy
  • Increases flexibility and physical comfort

Remember, yoga is non-competitive and non-judgmental. Honor your body, relax, and remember to breathe. Be compassionate and patient with yourself. Best results are maintained by a consistent practice over time.

How do I prepare for class?

  • Avoid large meals at least two hours prior to class. Have a light snack if necessary.
  • To ensure everyone has an enjoyable practice, please come to class with a clean body.
  • Clothing should be comfortable, lightweight and non-restrictive. Yoga is practiced in bare feet.
  • Bring a yoga mat if possible. We have mats for sale in our boutique and you can rent a Yoga Mat for a $2 fee. We recommend investing in your own yoga mat and eye pillow.
  • On your first visit, please arrive 15 minutes early to fill out the necessary paperwork and get acquainted with the space.

What can I expect when I get to the studio?

You will be asked to place your shoes and belongings in the cubbies provided in the lobby area. We advise leaving any valuables in your car or at home. Give your name to the front desk assistant and sign-in on the clipboard. If it is your first visit to the studio, you will be asked to fill out a waiver form. The front desk assistant will be able to answer any further questions you may have and you will be introduced to your teacher.

Please remember to speak softly and quietly before and after class. Our intention is to maintain a serene atmosphere to encourage learning and peace of mind.

Is there yoga studio and class etiquette?

  • Arrive a few minutes early and plan on staying for the entire class. If you must leave early, please let the teacher know before class begins.
  • Cell phones or any electronic devices are not allowed in the practice studio.
  • Be sure to let your teacher know if you have a current/past injury or any health condition.
  • Please leave your shoes in the lobby cubbies. There are no shoes allowed in the studio.
  • Speak in hushed tones while in the lobby if there is a class in session, and also in the studio before and after your class.
  • Remember to sign-in for class at the front desk and print your name legibly.
  • Children under the age of 12 and pets (that are not certified service animals) are not allowed in the studio or the lobby of the studio unless otherwise delineated in the class description. For those times when an adult needs to conduct business with the studio and be accompanied by children under 12, the children must be supervised by a guardian or parent at all times.
